This week was great and a lot of good things happened. First off, we did not have the baptisms that we were planning for, but not to worry, they just changed the date.
We had a lesson a week ago with Benito and Margartia and I want to thank all of you for your prayers for them. The lesson was so powerful and as we taught from Alma 22, the Spirit bore witness to all of us and Margarita accepted the invitation to be baptized with her husband. When we went back to visit them on Wednesday, Margarita told us that she had had a dream that was her answer that she was supposed to be baptized. How incredible is that! Even though she was unsure and didn't know everything, she put her trust in the Lord and said, "yes I will be baptized" and literally the next day she recieved the answer that she had been looking for! What a powerful lesson to all of us!
I learned something very powerful this week about true happiness that I would like to share with all of you. As we were driving home at night I was just sitting, pondering what had gone on that day and the Spirit hit me with this thought: So many people look for happiness in the things of the world--like rock climbing, skiing, good movies, good friends--and those things can all help us to be happy and to enjoy life, but when all of those things are gone, when change hits, people move on, or things happen that take those things away from us, our happiness also disappears. But what is the one thing (or I guess, who is the one person) that will never go away? Of course it is our Savior Jesus Christ. If we are close to the Savior, we will always be happy, no matter what happens to us or those we love.
It is not easy to live close to the Savior, in fact, it's pretty hard a lot of the time, but we will never feel enduring peace in this life until we give ourselves to our Redeemer. I know that if we do that, we can find peace and happiness in this life and the life to come.
Love you all and hope that you have a great week!
